HHU is supporting early career researchers (ECRs) to establish an independent research profile. To this end, HHU will support ECRs in acquiring their first research project in a funding line offered by the German Research Foundation (DFG) directly after completion of their doctoral studies.

Open Science stands for transparent and open research practice. A basic requirement is that the results of publicly funded research should also be made publicly accessible. Information on this can now be found on UniWiND's new Open Science website.

For each successfully acquired third-party-funded project of at least 100,000 €, young scientists at HHU receive a bonus of 5,000 € as a freely available budget. The programme is an incentive for the acquisition of third-party funding by young scientists. It is financed by the Strategic Research Fund (SFF) and applies to HHU's non-medical faculties.

The fund serves to relieve the burden on female scientists at HHU who, in addition to research and teaching, also have child care responsibilities.

The Schering Stiftung and the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung offer start-up grants to fund promising research ideas by young scientists. Support is provided for projects in the fields of biochemical, neuroscience or immunological basic research with biomedical implications.
