10.06.20 COMEBACK-Re-entry programme for researchers

The COMEBACK re-entry programme is aimed at young researchers at the HHU who have interrupted their research project due to a family phase and are aiming to re-enter a scientific career with the aim of taking up a professorship. The sponsorship covers the financing of the own position as a full-time or part-time research assistant over a period of two years. An application is possible until 10.5.19.

How do doctoral research phases develop? Which conditions affect competence development and doctoral success? Which factors influence career decisions and career pathways of early stage researchers?

Only few comprehensive data and scientifically substantial answers exist on these questions. Therefore, together with numerous universities in Germany, Heinrich Heine University (HHU) Düsseldorf participates in the first questionnaire of the National Academics Panel Study (nacaps), implemented by the German Centre for Higher Education and Science Studies (DZHW).

All matriculated doctoral researchers of HHU will receive an invitation email to participate in the study on March 05th. Participation is voluntary and anonymous. Conclusions on individual persons during data evaluation are strictly excluded. Depending on your individual situation the questionnaire will require 20-30 minutes. Attractive prizes will be drawn among all participants.

30.01.19 Apply now: Robert Bosch Stiftung - Postdoc Academy for Trans-formational Leadership

The Postdoc Academy for Transformational Leadership is designed to train the next generation of leaders in sustainability and transformation research. It provides an intensive high-end training with four seminars in two years that broaden the research competencies of postdocs and promote their qualifications towards transdisciplinary leadership. The program also offers seed funding (e.g. for stakeholder meetings or proposal writing activities) to small groups of participants, who plan to initiate research collaborations.

17.12.18 Career Event "Should I stay or should I go" at HHU

On Saturday, 15 December 2018 about 40 people gathered for the Career Event "Should I stay or should I go" in lecture hall 3C at HHU. Several guests from outside academia gave insights into their career paths and their current job profiles. In a roundtable discussion and interactive sessions with the speakers participants had the chance to get to know different job settings and ways to get there.

17.12.18 2nd CRC conference on the “Dynamics of Membrane Systems“

The 2nd Conference of CRC 1208 will again provide an open forum for presenting and discussing the latest research on membrane biology. “Dynamics of Membrane Systems“ will focus on five themes representing the mission of our Research Center. Attendees are invited to stretch their boundaries, form collaborations, attend sessions outside their own areas of expertise, and learn how to apply exciting new tools and techniques to their own research. Early career researchers will also find a forum to exchange knowledge, approaches, and information regarding emerging techniques.

Should you stay or should you go? Participants will find out about what career opportunities are there out of the academia and which skills do they require to achieve their professional goals.

02.08.18 pART of Research - The winning images have been selected

For the third time, young scientists of all five HHU faculties have submitted their picture entries in the "pART of Research" calendar competition. The motto of the current call was "Diversity in Research/Objects-Places-People. Of 27 entries, twelfe images were selected by 1400 voters and will now be printed in the "pART of Research" - calendar 2019 of Heine Research Academies.
